OF HORSE & MAN
In 2011 we set out to make a simple documentary about the connection between horse and man.
300 hours of video and over 1000 still images later we have created a 3 part, 3 hour series about our love for horses.
So whether you own a horse, ride or simply admire horses from afar... you will learn a great deal about our relationship with this majestic creature through the centuries.
The horse has forever touched our lives. Our story traces our fascination with and connection to the horse, from prehistoric times to modern day and beyond.
And although this connection is hidden deep within our collective conscious its evidence is ever present. So common is this image it has become overlooked, almost invisible. Yet horses are prominent in our art, literature, colloquialisms, our architecture, fashions, our sports, our celebrations and for some, in their every day lives.
So enamored of the many fine qualities horses possess, man often strives to emulate them.
Perhaps poet, Ronald Duncan, put it best...
Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride,
friendship without envy, or beauty without vanity?
Here, where grace is laced with muscle and strength
by gentleness confined.
He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity.
There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent.
There is nothing so quick, nothing more patient.
All our history is in his industry We are his heirs, he our inheritance.
The Horse
